HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY FLF KIDS!!!

I really wanted to plan something totally awesome and over the top to celebrate the one year anniversary of 50L Friday Kids.  I do plan to do that still but it won't be happening tomorrow because I have not had time to plan it.  Real Life has been very productive lately and I'm super happy to be starting college on Monday but sorting out all the paperwork and things for that has kept me preoccupied.  I hope you'll all forgive me and I will certainly keep you updated about the FLF Kids Celebration!  Anyway, enough rambling since I'm not even sure how many actually read this little paragraph before the list... here it is!

It's been 49 very long and mostly enjoyable weeks and I'm so excited that this is week 1 of a halfway revamped system.  I'm sure this will make things much easier on us all in the future and that this new way will prove to be much more effective.  Merchants, here's the best part, if you're suppose to be on this list just poke me and I'll be sure to update the blog to include you.

Stage One of the Revamp

Just to make sure you are all clear on what to expect for this week since it is a bit different.  Please read the following paragraphs.  I also sent these out to you in world with your GURU forms attached but I want to be sure you all see it.

I'm in the process of getting things updated and starting this week we'll be migrating to the website!

For those who are not aware of what's been in the works I've created a website for FLF/kids/ you can visit it at the following address.

Right now the most important things that have been updated are the way the order of the list will be determined and also how it will be distributed.  Each week when you come to hand in your form you will no longer have loose notecards to worry about, you will simply come and click a box to determine that you are participating.  The order that you all come and register is the order you will be placed on the list.  For the next couple weeks I will be asking you to return forms as well as click the box until everyone gets used to the new way things will be done.  When it seems things are running smoothly we will transition and I will simply send you a letter each weekend following FLF to remind you to come and get registered if you haven't done so.

The list will no longer be 50 landmarks on a notecard, I will be writing a blog post each Thursday afternoon which will include all your store names and direct SLURLS to your shops.  I have almost all of you listed there now excluding a few new people and some that I may have overlooked when getting the site up.  If your store SLURL is not on that list and it should be please contact me at the following email address.  Include your avatar name, your store name, as well as your store SLURL in the email.

One more important reminder.  Cindy Lu and Emma Burks are active on moderating 50L Friday and each week one of them are going around to be sure everything is set up the way it should be.  If they find a problem they simply write it on a notecard and send it to me.  Violations are outlined on the website in the Guideline section so please be sure you know what is expected of you.  Failure to correspond to the guidelines could lead to removal from the event.  If you happen to be removed from the event you are NOT kicked out forever, you'll need to re-apply and will be added back when you've met all the guidelines.

Fine tuning...

I'm working on getting the HUD system setup and I"m very excited even more than before about all the awesome new things coming to FLF Kids!  Basically what's going to happen is the merchants will just need to click a box to register for the week and that will determine the order their stores are listed in the HUD.  The shoppers can attach the HUD and it will "feed" them the SLURLS in chat and they can TP around to the different stores.  This is going to be such a great improvement.. no more messy notecards!  I'll keep you all posted on when you should be changing out your group joiners and things and shoppers hold tight, great things are in store in the coming weeks!

I just wanted to write a quick post and sorta roughly explain the updates that will be taking place hopefully starting next week!  As you all can see there is a SLURL tab on the blog, this has every active merchant involved in 50L Friday!

There will no longer be notecards sent in a list instead the shoppers will be able to pick up a HUD that will allow them to TP around to all your stores.  I'm not totally sure yet how the HUD works because it was too late last night after Young Citizens Society class at Oceanside but I am going to be figuring that out today and will hopefully be able to launch the new system updates later today.


I also wanted to point out something to you all who have been discussing with me the fairness of the acceptance process.  I've taken some advice and shifted some things allowed including pushing the number of months you must run the business you are applying to put in 50L Friday.  Many of you had approached me about your feeling that 3 months was not enough especially since all over "us", the business owners who have been open for years, had to put so much work into getting out store names out and now it's kinda handed to new business owners.  So I made the adjustment to 6 months to be fair to everyone who has worked really hard but to not be impossible for those new business owners to join in at the appropriate time.


I think that's everything I wanted to touch base on briefly so stay turned, merchants you will be getting new group joiners later that are all scripted and I'll need you to replace your old sign so that the HUD will work with the new.
